  • Sunday Morning Devotions

Here is a passage that I have been meditating on -- we read it this morning as part of our devotions.

"My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.  Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.  Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life.  Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you.  Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.  Ponder the path of your feet; and let all your ways be established.  Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil."

    Proverbs 4:20-27

As I have been getting over a stomach virus this weekend, I enjoyed sitting and reading this book. For those of you who are looking for good reading material, both Mom and I read it and thought that it was excellent.  It is about Elisabeth Elliot's experiences and lessons of faith during her first year as a missionary to Ecuador.

  • I've been tagged!

Katie has tagged me!  Here it goes!

List six non-important things/quirks/habits about yourself:

    Hmmm...

    1) I will occasionally put peanut butter in my oatmeal! As different as this may seem, it tastes really good!  I also like topping my oatmeal with dried cranberries and pecans.  However, some of our friends have convinced us that best way to eat oatmeal is to put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!  We do not do this regularly, though.

    2) I have lived here for a little over five years, and have gone downhill-skiing only once, I believe.  Isn't that ironic??

    3) This may sound really strange, but I can wiggle my ears.  It must be something genetic...

    4) Both of my thumbs are double-jointed.

    5) Um...I can roll my tongue?

    6)

I left #6 blank because I can't think of anything else terribly interesting/quirky at the moment...  Anyway, hope you enjoyed the tag!

I tag Aliya, Megan, and Steven.

When you complete this tag, please link the person who tagged you and also tag 1-3 other people.

  • An Update

roof123    We have had a lot of snow here this year!  Although now it has melted a little, we had some pretty large drifts around the house, especially on the porch just outside the window I am sitting at right now!   To keep our roof from damaging with the heavy weight the snow inflicts, as well as to prevent leaks from it eventually melting, today Dad tackled the task of clearing off the porch roof as well as other areas of the roof from mountains of snow.  Yes, this is winter life in the Northlands!

This past week was "Winter Break" for the Potter's School, so my brother and I enjoyed a lighter load of school this week.  Today, I am especially enjoying a lazy, Saturday afternoon.  It's nice to be home!  Yesterday was Mom's birthday, (Happy Birthday, Mom!) and we had a special time together -- a "Girl's Night" as we like to call it -- and watched "The Inheritance."  It was fun!

               dishcloths

I have had the "crochet bug" and have been doing multiple projects that keep my hands busy.   Recently, I have been making crochet and knit dishcloths to put into my Hope Chest.  They turned out really nice!  Mom and I have found them to be excellent -- they really work well for washing dishes!  Mom has liked them so much that she wants to learn how to make them too!  I always enjoy working with yarn!

Also, I have been quite busy on the piano as the state scholarship competitions draw near.  Next Saturday, Daniel and I will be auditioning for the state track.  It requires that you play three memorized pieces for a judge, and take a theory test.   On top of that, Daniel and Bethany have a recital tomorrow afternoon, and I had one last Saturday.  It helps to get a feel for playing each piece in front of an audience.

Hope that you enjoy the rest of the weekend!

                   Forever Grateful for His Grace,

                            ~ Kristen

Psalm 139:1-4

1 O LORD, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.
